System Features
The Renzulli Learning System is based on the research of Drs. Joseph Renzulli and Sally Reis, the Renzulli Learning System works because it is centered on how personalization and differentiation—constructed around a student’s interests, learning styles, and expression styles—inspire learning.

Renzulli Learning includes Four Key Components:
1. The Renzulli Profiler
A student’s first experience with Renzulli Learning is with the Renzulli Profiler, a detailed online questionnaire that allows the Renzulli software to generate a personal narrative profile of each student’s top interests, learning styles, and product styles. This comprehensive learning assessment makes it easier for teachers to get to know their students and effectively differentiate instruction. Depending on the student’s age and reading level, completion of the Profiler takes between 20 and 45 minutes.

2. The Renzulli Differentiation Search Engine
After Profiler completion, teachers and students immediately have access to a personalized database of thousands of both online and offline enrichment activities via the Differentiation Search Engine. Students and teachers are able to explore the entire database of over 50,000 carefully selected age-appropriate websites and resources, including enrichment activities, simulations, e-books, virtual field trips, and projects. The RLS can be accessed securely anywhere Internet access is available for educational fun in the classroom, at home, and on the go!

3. Lesson Planning and Differentiation Tool
The lesson planning and differentiation tool enables teachers to differentiate and disseminate a lesson in as little as 15 minutes. They can create and differentiate their own lessons or use the RLS ready-made assignments, projects, and unit supplements with linked resources. Teachers can customize the assignments to their curricular needs as well as share collaboratively with their colleagues.
For truly individualized learning at the highest levels, students can use the Wizard Project Maker feature to focus their interests as they pursue advanced level work through problem-based learning, also known as Renzulli Type III projects.

4. The Total Talent Portfolio
The RLS has on-line portfolios to store student’s work. It is accessible anytime, anywhere, and can transport student information from grade-to-grade or school-to-school. The portfolio records enrichment sites visited, favorite sites, students’ assessments of the on-line Renzulli resources, as well as any projects and assignments students have completed. Teachers and parents can review this portfolio at any time.
Further information on the features of the Renzulli Learning System can be found in an article authored by Drs. Renzulli and Reis in the International Journal of Emerging Technologies in Learning.

Additional Renzulli Learning System Features:
-
The Renzulli Reports: a series of management tools for teachers, administrators and parents, designed to help follow individual students’ learning progression, analyze group usage patterns, and formulate lesson plans and classroom organization
- Enrichment Activities for each student: Thousands of web sites in areas of interest for exploration, also known as Renzulli “Type I” exploration
- Inbox Messaging for Teachers and Students within the secure and private Renzulli Learning System.
- Customization Groups: Grouping of students according to profile results for differentiation purposes, which is useful when assigning lessons or working in a secondary classroom environment
- Collaborative Grouping for students, including a group message board, which is helpful for group projects.
For example: Auburn, Alabama City Schools utilized the Renzulli Learning System for a Stock Market project. Teams were assigned to a collaborative group. Students messaged one another from their individual computers, when making decisions concerning trades. Each student had a portfolio which included: Assignments, Projects, Uploads of work completed, Journals, Collaborative groups, etc. The Renzulli System allowed students to work collaboratively and for their teacher to monitor their progress and review their work.
- College and Career Readiness Program: Renzulli learning has several components which assist students with college and career preparations and direction. These features include:
- The Personal Success Plan (PSP) provides career assessment, planning, and activities for students grade 5 and above
- edX advanced high level courses from universities including: Harvard, MIT, Princeton, and 25 of the top 50 Universities in the world
- The Total Talent Portfolio is a platform where students can showcase their work for university admissions and career portfolios.
